ABOUT THE BOOK:
Since moving to Edmonton 5 years ago, I’ve created around 20 portraits. Over the past 5 years, I’ve met and become friends with many of the people in this book. It’s been an absolute honour to be trusted with these images and share them. These works are primarily acrylic on canvas.
The purpose of the work I have done thus far has been to examine the function of colonialism in portraiture and other histories that aren’t always truthful representations of Indigenous existence. As such, my portraits describe Indigenous people as they appear to me. Through my work I celebrate our nuanced experiences, and seek a sincere understanding of the many facets of Indigenous life.
Designed by Brandon Wynnychuk. This magazine has 30 of my acrylic portraits from 2016-2021. It includes writings from Conor McNally and Brandon Wynnychuk.
Softcover, 8.5 x 11.
Thank you so much for your support, I hope you enjoy the magazine as much as I do.
